The week of April 8th started off with really mild weather so the Tri Tornadoes took advantage of the weather and took some of their workouts OUTSIDE for the FIRST time in 2013. The AM bike ride was AWESOME. The Tri Tornadoes also participated in the inaugural Rock the Relay in Downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, April 13th. The Rock the Relay is a marathon relay race with teams that had 2, 3, 4, and 6 members on each team. The Tri Tornadoes had 3 teams registered. There was a 3 member team (each member ran 8.8 miles), a 6 member adult team (each member ran 4.4 miles), and a 6 member Kids team that won the youngest team award with an average of 12.5 years. It was a GREAT Event to showcase the versatility of the Tri Tornadoes!!
The Tri Tornadoes also had team members race the Carmel Sprint Triathlon on Sunday, April 14th. Angie, Andrew, and David braved the cold, windy conditions to complete the 400 meter pool swim, 9.5 mile bike and 5K run. All had solid races, with David having the best swim of 6:22, Andrew having the best bike split of 29:48 and Angie having the fastest run split of 23:19.
This week we are starting our get to know the Tri Tornadoes feature of our update. It is our hope that you find someone on our team to relate with and that will help YOU find the desire to start your own fitness adventure. This week’s feature is Angie Briley. Wednesday, April 17th is Angie’s 41st Birthday…So wish her a Happy Birthday!!! She started racing triathlon’s about 6 years ago and had competed in about 24 races. Her favorite races are Go Girl and the Columbus Sprint Triathlon. Her favorite part of triathlon is the Bike and likes the run the least…but as you can see from the results above…she is getting FASTER!! She says she is an early bird and likes to get her workouts done in the morning, but she is starting to like the evening workouts too. She is a Paralegal during the day and she was raised in Bloomington, Indiana where she went to Bloomington South High School. Her favorite recovery beverage is Chocolate Milk and she rides a Cannondale Bike. Her 2013 goal is to complete the REV3 – Cedar Point Half Race. We also found out recently that Angie is a true practical joker…she annually decorates her coworkers’ offices on April 1st….She has posted some of her work on her Facebook page.
So for the week of April 8th, the Tri Tornadoes Swam 64,450 yards, Biked 306 miles and Ran 191 Miles. Our Totals are now up to 364,650 yards Swum, 2,426 miles Biked and 1,475 miles Run.
