Tax Day started off an AWESOME week for the Tri Tornadoes. Even though the weather in Indianapolis is not cooperating…The Tri Tornadoes are making the best of a bad situation. The nice weather was out on Monday and Tuesday and the Tuesday AM group had an AWESOME Interval workout. The end of the week had low temps back down in the 30’s and had us pulling out our tights and long sleeves to run outside. HOPEFULLY, next week we will have better luck…but if not, we will continue our assault on the indoor workouts.
This week’s getting to know the Tri Tornadoes feature is….Matt Pierce. Matt has been doing triathlons for 2 years and he has raced in 6 events. He competed in 3 Sprint, and 2 Olympic distance races. He also competed in the 2012 Muncie 70.3 that was shortened due to excessive temperatures. Matt really likes his Garmin 910XT since it keeps track of all his workout data, but he really likes the fact that it keeps track of the laps he swims in the pool. His bike is a Cervelo P3. His favorite race is the next one…and he recovers with Chocolate Milk. His favorite color is Red and his favorite food is Pizza. Matt is really excited for the 2013 racing season since he has signed up for 2 Half Ironman distance events. Matt spends his days working as a nurse for a St. Francis Hospitals and he and his wife Heidi have 2 boys, Carter and Nolan. Matt grew up on the southside of Indianapolis and attended Perry Meridian High School and then went on to the University of Indianapolis. He likes riding his bike up hills, but is still not sure about the high speed descents. He is an early bird and likes the AM workouts and always feels better after he has completed a good solid effort. Matt likes competing with himself and proving that he can do more than he thought!! Triathlon is a GREAT way for Matt to push himself to his limits!!
So for the week of April 15th, the Tri Tornadoes Swam 58,325 yards, Biked 343 miles and Ran 210 Miles. Our Totals are now up to 422,975 yards Swum, 2,769 miles Biked and 1,685 miles Run.
We also DRANK…496 ounces or 3.88 gallons of Chocolate Milk.
